Lot’s has been happening at Sweet Lorraine’s:

We have begun a Big Make- over at our Southfield location! Kimberly Bail, a muralist from Chelsea has just finished a beautiful mural that is just the beginning of our redo. We hope to start building a sit down bar soon in the old lounge location-- we are just waiting for approval from the Southfield building department. We have new carpeting arriving any day as well as a new paint job throughout the restaurant. Hopefully we will be done by this summer, but don’t wait for our redo to stop by to see all the new specials that we are running. We have hooked up with some new suppliers-- any day soon we will be featuring organic veggies from Michelle Lutz at Maple Creek Farms & organic hamburger from Elmer Slabaugh. He is a certified organic farmer in Brown City,Michigan. Elmer raises the beef on pasturea and grows his own grain for feed. The beef is processed at C Roys. They are a USDA inspected-certified organic (1 of only 2 in the state) processor.. We have also started to get in Australian organic beef that is only grass feed and is lower in fat-- our guests are loving it! so we will continuing with running Ribeyes & Tenderloin from down under! Niman Ranch all natural organic pork ribs is another new addition to our specials, as well as Frankenmouth Organic chickens!! It’s so exciting to be able to offer these products that are so much better for us and the enviroment! Gary and I recently traveled to the islands of the Azores--no one seems to know these islands! They are in the middle of the Atlantic 4 & 1/2 hours from Boston, 2 hrs from Lisbon. They were discovered by the Portugese in the 15th century. The beauty was unbelievable. The food incrediable and the people so warm and friendly that we can’t wait to go back!! We didn’t know what to expect since we couldn’t find much information even on the internet ,but we had been told that the islands had great seafood, that was an understatement! The wealth of fresh fish and seafood is incrediable but the suprise was the beef. They
raise lots of cattle. All grass-fed meat, lower in fat than we eat and so tasty but not quite as tender. Get over tender , go for taste.!! We ate barnacles (very strange),limpets ,kinda like a 1 shelled clam, nearly the national dish. We didn’’t have one bad meal! If you want night life and crazyness, please don’t go to the Azores, it’s quiet, beautiful and a foodies heaven!
April was soybean month and I was on Fox 2 , showing off all our different uses forHappy Spring soybeans at Sweet Lorraines, vegetarian soy burger ,paradise soy burgers, soybean quacamole, pacific rim slaw and more.
May, Gary & I went Morel hunting with friends & luckey for us they are friends or we would have been skunked! We’ll post some pictures of our exploits soon.
